Construction of 80 metre observatory tower using continuous concrete casting method (slip forming) on piled foundations and comprising of lift shaft, escape staircase with a control room and equipment floor provided at 50 metres and 56 metres above ground respectively.
Construction of a single storey harbour masters office block. The structure, a reinforced concrete frame supported on piled foundation with suspended reinforced concrete slabs and coral block infill wailing.
H. Young were responsible for the complete detailed design, supply, installation and commissioning of the Building Services for the New Control Tower and Harbour Masters Offices for Kenya Ports Authority in Mombassa. The works consisted of the following:
- Normal and emergency lighting and small power of Control Tower and Harbour Masters offices.
- Fire Detection, Telephone and Data communication systems
- Earthing and Lightning Protection systems.
- Plumbing and Drainage including external reticulation and waste water treatment plants.
- Air-Conditioning and ventilation system for all the buildings.
