The President commissioned the construction of 3.3 B Kendu Bay - Homa Bay Road project. Accompanied by the Rt Hon Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Minister of Roads Mr. Franklin Bett, various Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament and other dignitaries, he called on the residents to take advantage of the various road projects being undertaken in the region to better their living standards through agriculture.
The road located in Rachuonyo and Homa Bay Districts of Nyanza province in Western Province measures 38 km in length. The construction will start at the shore of Lake Victoria and is expected to take 30 months.
The works of the contract comprise construction of a two lane single carriageway bitumen sealed road. The works are expected to commence as soon as the employer issues commencement instructions.
The road is funded entirely by the Government of Kenya and will be constructed under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, Roads Department, Ministry of Roads.
The contract value is Kenya Shillings 3.3 Billion.
