Project Profile – Civil Construction Projects KenCell/ Celtel Infrastructure for GSM Network Across Kenya. Various Contracts Client: Kencell Communications Completion date: 2000 - 2004 Value: US$ 35 Million A very challenging contract involving the construction of over 300 sites throughout Kenya, in some of the remote terrains as well as in the urban areas. Scope of works included site surveys and pilot studies, Bush and Site Clearance, Civil works, Structural Steel Fabrication of towers, generator and BTS Shelters, mechanical & electro-mechanical installation, electrical works and road works.
Client: ORMAT Power Engineer: Orpower4 Inc., USA Completion date: 2000 Value: Ksh 150 Million (US$ 2.85 Million) Construction of a 3 x 4 MW Geothermal Power Station for a private power producer ORMAT Power. H Young undertook the building and civil works including 50,000m3 of earthworks, 11,000m3 of concrete works. Other works included mechanical installation of 3 x 4 generating turbines, transformers, cooling towers. H Young also undertook the installation of more than 6 Kms of high pressure steam and other piping works including the insulation and cladding. The project took only five and a half months from a green site to power production. Ormat 12 MW Geothermal Power Plant Headquarters offices of Amiran Kenya Ltd Client: Amiran Kenya Ltd. Engineer: H Young & Co (EA) Ltd Completion Date: 2000 Value: Ksh 94 Million (US$ 1.3 Million) Construction of a 4 storied ultra modern office building and storage warehouses.
